ABOUT ME

My name is Nora Camann and I have worked in libraries since 2008. Several years ago, I moved to the UK from the United States and began working toward my chartership to become a professional librarian through CILIP. This contents of this blog are the evidence of my learning process as I gain the professional skills it takes to be a chartered librarian.

The introduction to this blog has been altered since its beginning in 2014. This is partly due to my having changed jobs and partly due to my growing maturity in the field. I have pasted the original introduction into an old blog post.

To sum up my work-self to date:

I began my career as a school librarian for early years children and then became a health librarian for the NHS for a year. Finally, in September 2015, I will once again be working as a school librarian, this time as a deputy librarian of outreach in Canterbury. I think libraries appeal to me because I love to categorize. A place for everything and everything in its place, etc. I do also love to read and think that it is the one skill that can open up a world of possibilities that would otherwise be closed to those with the fewest advantages.

When I am not working, I am living in Gravesend with my husband, a bunny and a dog. My hobbies include playing games, painting, and taking really long walks.
